Miguel Paternostre is a civil engineer in architecture graduated from the Université Catholique de Louvain in 2001.

After internships at the C. Van Nieuwenhove office and the B. Hemeleers workshop, he became site manager at Koeckelberg SA, a class 8 construction company. Miguel then joined the Samyn and Partners architectural firm, where he was project manager and became a member of the management committee.

In 2009, he began working as an independent architect, focusing on transformations of single-family homes. Then begins his exploration of how to integrate and exceed client needs in his architectural design process.

Since 2013, Miguel has been involved in the technical inspection of buildings at the European Parliament in Brussels, on behalf of SECO Belgium. He also developed the concept of the Lotus Guides (www.guidelotus.com) which accompany the visit of key works of modern architecture in Europe.

A construction or transformation project takes place in a particular place and is justified by needs.  Although the amount of energy involved is never completely measurable, it’s impact is undeniable. In this context, I see architectural practice as an opportunity to bring to the result of the operation a value that is also non-measurable.

To me, architecture means the art of building and, as a practice, combines both discipline and creativity. By discipline, I mean that it is necessary to leave one’s preferences aside to foster the development of a project’s own potential, in the manner of a gardener helping a plant to flourish. Furthermore, for me, creativity comes from observation, which I exercise mainly through drawing.About Architecture

Then, through this combination, and after a data collection phase, the project gradually takes shape, from the landscape dimension to the constructive details.
